Curb vs WordPress

WordPress can do almost anything, and its export is the most open of any builder here. The price of that is upkeep: plugins, updates and the editor are yours. Curb takes all of it off your hands — no plugins, nothing to update, changes made for you.

Side by side

From WordPress.com's own pricing pages and documentation, retrieved 3 October 2026, in US dollars.

Price with a custom domain

Curb

$29/mo monthly, $24.17/mo yearly. $20 of Curb AI edits a month included, then unlimited with your own AI.

WordPress.com

Personal: $9/mo monthly, $4/mo yearly.

Who makes changes after launch

Curb

We do, or your own AI does. Ask in chat, approve the preview, it ships — usually within the hour.

WordPress.com

You do, in the editor.

What the AI does

Curb

Builds the site, makes the changes you ask for, and keeps the stack current. A person owns the judgment calls.

WordPress.com

Builds a site by chat; an AI assistant afterwards, with usage limits on lower plans.

Take your site with you

Curb

Full source code, yours after one paid month.

WordPress.com

Standard WordPress export.

llms.txt and MCP

Curb

llms.txt, a facts file and a public MCP endpoint on every site.

WordPress.com

MCP for your own AI agents on paid plans; llms.txt not documented.

Plugins and upkeep

Curb

None. No plugins; static pages on a CDN.

WordPress.com

Plugins on every paid plan — and their updates are yours to keep up with.

Which one is right for you

Where WordPress is the better pick

  • Far lower price on WordPress.com, with plugins on every paid plan.
  • Standard WordPress export, portable to thousands of hosts.
  • Best-in-class if you publish a lot and want a full CMS of your own.

Where Curb is the better pick

  • No plugins, no updates, no security patches to keep up with. Static pages on a CDN.
  • Changes made for you in chat, usually within the hour, or by your own AI.
  • Faster pages: every site must clear 95+ on Google's performance and SEO checks before it ships.
  • llms.txt, a facts file and a public MCP server, built in rather than bolted on.

Moving from WordPress to Curb

Moving off WordPress is what the migrate track was built for: same design, same pages, posts included, on a stack with nothing to patch.

Every old URL is kept where it can be and 301-redirected where it changes, and titles, descriptions and structured data come across — so search rankings come with you.

Your current site stays live, untouched, until you approve the new one. We check your mail records before anything moves, and the domain cutover takes about ten minutes.

The migrate track carries a one-time fee of $199 on Standard or $399 on Pro, refunded if you are not happy with the move within 14 days.

Questions

Will my WordPress blog posts come across?

Yes. Every page we can reach migrates, posts included, with their URLs kept or redirected. Anything behind a login, tell us about and we handle it by hand.

What about my plugins?

Most plugins exist to patch what a static site does natively — caching, SEO tags, security. Forms, booking and analytics are built in. If you rely on one we do not cover, tell us before you move and we will say plainly whether we can.

Is this for self-hosted WordPress too?

Yes. WordPress.com or self-hosted, we read the live site — we do not need database access.
