How the grade works
We run 15 checks. Each one comes back fine, needs work, or broken. Fine earns full credit, needs work earns half, and broken earns none. Your grade is the average, out of 100.
Every check counts the same, because every one is a plain fact — a missing certificate, a page with no description, a robots.txt that shuts out AI crawlers. There is no weighting we could tune to make a site look worse than it is. If a check cannot run, for example because your server did not answer for robots.txt, it is left out rather than counted against you.
What the score means
80–100
In good shape
Nothing a visitor or a search engine would trip over. Fix the odd warning and move on.
50–79
Losing you something
The site works, but some of what is wrong is costing visits, rankings or enquiries.
0–49
Measurably broken
Visitors are seeing problems — no HTTPS, a desktop page on a phone, no way to get in touch.
What we grade
Secure connection
Whether the site loads over HTTPS, or shows visitors a “Not secure” warning.
Server response
How long your host takes to answer, before a single pixel is drawn.
Page weight
How heavy the homepage markup is — the tell for a page builder doing layout at load time.
Mobile layout
Whether the page declares a viewport, or renders desktop-width on a phone.
Page title
The blue line in a Google result, and whether it is there and fits.
Search description
The grey text under the title in a search result, and whether it fits.
Headline structure
Whether the page has one clear H1 telling search engines what it is about.
Image alt text
How many images are invisible to screen readers, to search, and to AI assistants.
A way to contact you
Whether there is a tap-to-call link or a form, or just a number inside an image.
Business markup
Whether structured data tells search engines and assistants your address, hours and service area.
AI crawlers
Whether robots.txt shuts out GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended or CCBot.
llms.txt
Whether the site publishes the plain-text summary written for AI assistants.
Link previews
Whether a shared link shows a card with your photo or a bare grey URL.
Copyright year
Whether the footer still says a year that makes you look closed.
Blocking scripts
How many scripts the visitor waits through before seeing anything.
What it is not
It is not a Lighthouse run, so it never invents a performance score — that needs a real browser. It looks at your homepage, robots.txt and llms.txt. Before we build any site, we run the full version: every page, every link, every accessibility rule.
Want a site that scores 95 or more?
Every Curb site has to clear 95 on Lighthouse before it ships. Pick a plan and we start on yours.
